Google wave option for TinyHouseConference #12

with 2 comments

Eightball suggested that we try Google Wave for the VirtualTinyHouseConference. So it will be an option for the next one, but you do not have to use it, you can use tinychat or vsee if you want, but everyone should probably use the same thing, which can be negotiated at the beginning. You would need a gmail account or if you don’t want to give them your phone number (which you need to to sign up for a new gmail account) you can sign up for google account and still use google Wave.

So you may wish to sign up for those things now. I have signed up and will be trying it. There does not seem to be any audio or video support right now, but there might be a widget that supports it, Wave has a variety of widgets (“gadgets”) you can embed in a Wave including one for videoconferencing but it doesn’t work.

Hypothetically you should be able to click this link to see the wave, it is set so that anyone should be able to edit it. But I tried and it won’t let me so don’t feel bad if it won’t let you either… Google wave was in development in 2010 and google suspended development before launching it, but they agreed to keep the site up so existing users could use it apparently. In other words it’s not done, so no wonder there are some bugs.

  1. I was able to add to that wave. You might need to change anon_access=true to false after you have logged in, though.
